Everyone has an opinion. The question is: can you defend yours?
This Friday, we're putting your opinions to the test.
Welcome to Social Friday: Unpopular Opinion — an evening of questionable takes, surprisingly strong arguments, drinks, laughter, and meeting people who may or may not agree with you.
Event Details:
📅 Date: 11th Sept
📍Venue: Dhaba Restaurant (2nd floor, Sarit Centre Rooftop)
⏰Time: 6 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
🎟️ Your Ticket Includes:
🍺 2 beers OR
🍸 1 cocktail OR
🍷 1 glass of wine OR
🥤 2 non-alcoholic drinks
Here’s how it works:
You’ll sit at a table with 6 people and a moderator. The moderator picks an unpopular opinion card and reads it out loud.
Then everyone votes:
🟢 AGREE
🔴 DISAGREE
🟡 IT DEPENDS
Everyone places their token on the table, and the moderator reveals the vote.
If you're in the minority, it's your time to explain yourself.
You'll have the chance to defend your position while everyone on the other side gets to challenge your argument. But don't get too comfortable — after the debate, everyone votes again.
And this time, you might just change your mind.
We'll also have a timer to make sure no one turns the conversation into their personal TED Talk. Everyone gets a chance to speak, challenge, disagree, defend their position and, occasionally, admit that they might have been wrong.
And that's the whole point.
You don't have to agree. You just have to be willing to have the conversation.
There will be arguments.
There will be terrible opinions.
There will be surprisingly good arguments for terrible opinions.
And at some point, someone will almost certainly say:
“Okay... I hadn't thought about it like that.”
Which, for us, counts as educational.
The point isn't to win.
It’s to meet new people, hear completely different perspectives that will challenge how you think, and have a ridiculous amount of fun while doing it.
Come prepared to defend opinions you didn't even realise you had.
Just don't come expecting everyone to agree with you.
That would be terribly boring.
You can come solo. You can tag along with someone.
It doesn't matter! You will have fun either way.
